On the June 27th 2007 the Dinosaur Discovery Gallery will be officially opened, along with new exhibits in the Community Centre. Members and guests will meet at 6 p.m. in the Community Centre, where refreshments will be provided by the District of Tumbler Ridge. Three athletes will be inducted into the Tumbler Ridge Sports Hall of Fame: Micheal Dufresne, Amber Kuenzl and Cameron Smith. A portion of the new Tumbler Ridge Archives, recently moved to its new home in the Library, will be on display there. And two new exhibits will be opened, one entitled "Who was Alex Monkman?", and the other on the fascinating bird research that has been taking place in the region in the last few years.
Guests will then move to the Dinosaur Discovery Gallery, adjacent to the Peace Region Palaeontology Research Centre, for the formal opening at 7 p.m. Speeches will be made by representatives of all three levels of government: Mayor Mike Caisley, MLA Blair Lekstrom and MP Jay Hill. The Gallery is the product of six years of diligent scientific research, and becomes another public-accessible element in the TRMF's activities, with the potential to significantly boost tourism in the community and region, as well as fulfil an important educational role.
